What is Oxycodone prescribed for?

Oxycodone is in a group of drugs called narcotic pain relievers. It is similar to morphine.

Oxycodone is used to treat moderate to severe pain. The extended-release form of this medication is for around-the-clock treatment of pain. It is not for treating pain just after a surgery unless you were already taking oxycodone before the surgery.

Oxycodone may also be used for purposes other than those listed in this medication guide.

What are the side effects of Oxycodone?

Get emergency medical help if you have any of these signs of an allergic reaction: hives difficulty breathing swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat. Call your doctor at once if you have any of these serious side effects:

  • shallow breathing, slow heartbeat
  • seizure (convulsions)
  • cold, clammy skin
  • confusion
  • severe weakness or dizziness or

Less serious oxycodone side effects are more likely to occur, such as:

This is not a complete list of side effects and others may occur. Tell your doctor about any unusual or bothersome side effect. You may report side effects to FDA at 1-800-FDA-1088.

Do I need a prescription to get Oxycodone?

You need a prescription for Oxycodone to be legally used. If you do not have a prescription, see a doctor or visit the sites listed here and take the online questionnaire. There is no need to visit your doctor's office, make phone calls, or fax medical history or health insurance information when you get a Oxycodone prescription online.

What if I miss a dose?

If you miss a dose of Oxycodone, take it as soon as you remember, if it is within an hour or so. If you do not remember until later, skip the missed dose and resume your usual schedule. Do not 'double-up' the Oxycodone dose to catch up.

Important fact about Oxycodone
